The “Save Our Planet bill" Breaks Ground
Hot Globe Chats with Bob Keefe, CEO of E2, Representing 10,000 Companies
The Inflation Reduction Act doesn’t get enough love. Perhaps if it were called the “Save Our Planet” bill people might find the title catchier. Nevertheless, it’s doing great things to address climate change and it’s powering up the US economy at the same time, especially the regions gutted by globalism under Clinton, Bush and Obama (and for which Trump did zip.)
Today HOT GLOBE talks with Bob Keefe, the CEO of E2, the consortium of thousands of solar, wind, battery, grid, EV and finance companies that pushed to make the “Save Our Planet” bill possible, creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs and bringing billions of dollars to Red and Blue states, both. In fact, a map of major projects already begun is strongly bipartisan:
This is a politically smart map, from the Democratic point of view, because these are the places, often rural, that fueled the Trump backlash, and still do. Presumably, if you and your community are now getting good jobs in manufacturing, solar, wind, batteries, and all the rest, you might not be so bitter and resentful of the wealth that globalism brought California and New York, and you might return to the Democratic fold. How soon these changes come about, however, is another question. Those benefiting from the new jobs might still vote for Trump, who has promised to cancel as much progress as possible should he be re-elected, while at the same time, we can be sure, taking credit, ironically, for Biden’s successes.
HOT GLOBE: Bob, just what are the dimensions of the IRA in terms of jobs and money?
